インド太平洋に生息するニザダイ（ハギ）の仲間。平たい楕円形の体型で草食性。サンゴ礁の藻類を食べてサンゴ礁の生態系バランスを維持する役割を持つ大切な魚。
ヒラニザの分類と概要
ヒラニザ（学名: Acanthurus mata）は、生物分類上、条鰭綱 スズキ目 Acanthuridaeに属する動物です。 大分類では魚類のグループに含まれます。
ズーリストには、同じAcanthuridaeの動物が39種、同じ条鰭綱では2,409種 が掲載されています。これらの近縁種と比較しながら観察すると、進化の多様性をより深く実感できます。
